Roger Davy is a familiar face both internationally and locally, not only for his unique Pavarotti ™tribute shows (Broadway to Pavarotti, Pavarotti and the Diva, Pavarotti and Friends, Pavarotti Forever) and his Singing Waiter appearances but also for being one of the original voices behind Australia’s well-loved export ‘The Ten Tenors’. Starting his impressive career as a boy soprano he also studied at the Victorian College of the Arts and Queensland University, where he performed roles such as Tamino (Die Zauberflote) and Don Jose (Carmen).
As a young Artist with Opera Queensland he performed the role of Ruiz in ll Trovotore, and later under contract with Opera Australia was selected to perform several roles including Steva (Jenufa) and Gabriele Ardorno (Simon Boccanegra) … During this time he was a finalist in the prestigious Royal Covent Garden Scholarship which enabled him to study and perform other major operatic roles in Germany and the UK including the title role in Tales of Hoffman.
Upon returning to Australia, Roger diversified his talents and co-founded “The Ten Tenors” and performed with them for three years. After leaving the Ten Tenors, Roger used his considerable entrepreneurial skills in forming his own production/ entertainment company Vavachi Entertainment, which has since been delighting audiences around the world and supporting young emerging artists for over 16 years with well received performances in PNG, Fiji, The Maldives and Australia.
This; and his tireless commitment to his solo career, has resulted in Roger establishing himself as one of Asia’s highly sought after classical corporate performers and has seen him perform for 5 consecutive years at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix and for corporate clients including The Henley Financial Group, Primasia, Hong Kong and Aquatic Engineering & Construction International for Red Events Singapore. Roger was also a resident six-month performer at the Venetian Casino Macau/China.
He was engaged in a six-week contract touring China in the concert production of Aida with Australian International Productions. Career highlights have been performing for Olivia Newton John and partners at the exclusive GAIA Retreat and Spa (NSW) on two separate occasions, travelling to sing at Landaa Giraavaru Four Seasons Resort in the beautiful Maldives, working alongside international soprano Louise Kennedy as a featured artist in “Puccini and Fettuccini” and his involvement in local community theatre productions.
His roles here have been Piangi (Phantom of the Opera) in the QLD premier season for Savoyards Musical Theatre, Alfredo (Die Fledermaus) for Ipswich City Orchestra and the coveted role of Alfredo in La Traviata with Spotlight Theatre Company; all to outstanding reviews.
